Cheerleading competition to kickoff King Coal

The 22nd King Coal Cheerleading Competition will help to kick off a week of events for the annual King Coal Festival. The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22. This year, 26 teams from around the area will join at the Carmichaels Area High School football field to compete for the top prizes. Five different categories including varsity, junior high, midget A, midget B and pee wee, will be judged. Each team will be evaluated on fundamental skills, cheer, dance and overall effect.

Gates open at 2 p.m. and the competition is set to begin at 4 p.m. Admission is $4.
