Albert G. Jacobs Jr. “Sonny”
Albert G. Jacobs “Sonny” Jr., age 79, of Fairchance, Pa., passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at his residence with his loving Wife and Family by his side. He was born on May 10, 1930 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
“Sonny” served honorably in the United States Army and attained the rank of Corporal. He was a member of General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood and American Legion Post 51 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
He married his wife, Ruth Ann, on November 15, 1968.
“Sonny” was a Painter by trade and was also employed at the now former Anchor Hocking Glass Plant in South Connellsville, Pennsylvania.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and also Pittsburgh Pirates fan, win or lose.
“Sonny” formerly attended the Harbor of Light Chapel.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Albert G. Jacobs Sr. and Mary Lishnock Jacobs; a brother, Clayton Jacobs; and a sister, Betty Lou Thomas.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ann Smith Jacobs; eight children: Albert Jacobs III, Deborah Jacobs, Patricia El-Ayazra and husband John, Ronald Schwarz and wife Patricia, Timothy Jacobs and wife Jane, Tammy Phillips and husband Joe, Bill Jacobs, Dana Jacobs-Kelley; fifteen grandchildren whom he dearly loved: Timmy Jacobs whom he raised, Teena, Michelle, Michael, Ronnie, Edward, James, Angel, Derek, Chelsea, Jodi, Joseph, JoHanna, Jeffrey and Kaitlyn; five great grandchildren: Nicholas, William, Maggie, Hanna and Aiden; seven siblings: Ann Margaret “Dolly” Koldys, John William Jacobs and wife Carol, Delores “Dee” Morgan and husband Merle, Marlene Dickinson, Nancy Lawson and husband Chuck, Peggy Jacobs, and Cheryl Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive Friends in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME at 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, August 26, 2009 until 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with Pastor Paul Lesher officiating.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood, Pennsylvania.
