Chris G. Omiros

Chris G. Omiros, age 85, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, died on Saturday, August 22, 2009. Born and raised in Kastelorizon, Greece, Chris was a long time resident of Uniontown and spent the last three years of his life in Mount Macrina Manor.

He was most affectionately known to so many in the tri-state area for his generosity, hard work ethic, humor and generosity.

As an Industrial and Commercial Painting Contractor, he was the owner of Omiros Painting Company for fifty years until his retirement.

He was a 43-year active member of Fayette Lodge No. 228 Masons, Syria Shrine Caravan 9, and was past Grand Tall Cedar of FAYCO Forest 152 Tall Cedars of Lebanon.

For 20 years he served as President of the Uniontown-Monessen Chapter 116 Order of AHEPA.

Chris served on numerous community and school committees while raising his children.

He was a long time member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Monessen, Pa., and served on the Parish Council for several years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Alice Zervoudis Omiros in 2003; by his parents in Greece; and by seven brothers and sisters.

He is survived by a daughter Chrissa Omiros Piwowar and husband Rick Piwowar, and a son George J. Omiros and wife Sophia Florent Omiros, all of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; and grandchildren: Kenny Moore (Tiffany) of Cape Coral, Florida, Jimmy Moore (Sara) of Columbia, South Carolina, and Christopher Omiros and Alicia Omiros of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; four step grandchildren: Ricky (Teresa), Brian Piwowar, Adam Piwowar and Joyce Smith; eight stepgreat grandchildren; one niece, Carol Omiros of Harrisburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews in Greece and Australia.

Viewing will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the A. D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa.

In the Funeral Home on Monday: A Trisagion Service will be offered at 6:30 p.m. and a Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Service of Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC.

Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Hopwood, Pa.
