Donald Anthony Todaro

Donald Anthony Todaro, age 77, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 27, 2009 in his home. He was born September 27, 1931 in Newell, Pa., the son of the late Pasquale Todaro and Rose (Palermo) Todaro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Sam, Frank, John, Dominic, Jim, Joseph and infant brother Sam; his sisters: Pearl Gallo and Mary Rotolo; and his mother and father-in-law: Thomas and Angela Lazarz.

Don was the last remaining Todaro of ten children.

Don was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church and was a Eucharistic Minister. He was a 1949 graduate of Brownsville High School and a graduate of The California University with a Bachelor Degree in History. Don was a United States Veteran serving in the Army during the Korean War. He retired as a supervisor with the Fayette County Board of Assistance. He was a member of the VFW Post 47, the Santa Barbara Club and a member of the 3rd Order of Secular Franciscan Order.

Don was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He instilled the love of sports, especially Steeler Football, with his daughters. He enjoyed bowling and loved playing softball.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Janet Lazarz Todaro, his loving and devoted daughters: Donna Gisleson and husband John of Upper St. Clair, Pa., and Kristi Todaro of Uniontown; his grandchildren whom he adored: Celia Gisleson, Kara Gisleson and Adam Sepic; sisters-in-law:Mary Martoncik, Norma Todaro and Frances Todaro; brothers-in-law: Joseph Lazarz and Romeo Gallo and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown (today) Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday morning, August 31, 2009 until 9 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father Alexander L. Pleban as celebrant.

Interment follows in Mt. Macrina Cemetery.

Military Honors with be accorded by the VFW Post 47, Uniontown, Pa.

The following service will be held (today), August 30, 2009 in the funeral home: The 3rd Order of Secular Franciscan Order will do a Ritual at 3:30 p.m. and St. Joseph Parish Family Vigil by the Ministries of Consolation will be held at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Rosary being recited by the St. Joseph Christian Mothers.
