Irene Sullenberger
Irene Sullenberger, 76, of Point Marion, Pa, passed away quietly at her home with her family at her side, on Monday, November 30, 2009, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born at Trenton, North Carolina, on October 2, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Nathan Hubert and Lillie (Hall) Marshburn.
For many years, she worked as an aide in the nursery department of West Virginia University Hospitals. A faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Point Marion, she also attended Gospel Tabernacle in Mount Morris whenever possible.
A loving wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 57 years, William Bryan Sullenberger; two sons, Bryan Sullenberger and Michael Sullenberger and wife, Lisa, all of Point Marion; four daughters and their husbands, Sherry and George Carson of Springfield, Missouri, Karen and Clinton Murray of Uniontown, Pa., Kathie and Don Beck of Masontown, Pa., and Cindy and Charles Eichelberger of Point Marion; and she was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Predeceased is one daughter in infancy, two grandchildren, Holly Carson and Joshua Sullenberger, a brother, Alvin, and two sisters, Pearlene and Mae.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion today 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday in the First Baptist Church, Point Marion, from 1 to 2 p.m., the Hour of Service, with Pastor Kathy Griffith and Reverend Fred Tomlinson officiating.
Interment follows in Wolf’s Cemetery, Dilliner, Pa.
