Magical Cookie Tour set for Dec. 10
The Commercial Center Associates, LLC, in conjunction with the Uniontown Downtown Business District Authority’s Main Street Program and organized by Gift Peddlers in Uniontown will host the Magical Cookie Tour from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10. This year’s Magical Cookie Tour features 22 participating retail businesses and nonprofit organizations. Businesses are paired with a registered nonprofit organization. The organization “sets up shop” inside the business and sells cookies by the half dozen or dozen to shoppers. The organization keeps 100 percent of the proceeds from the sales of the cookies and are required to bake at least 50 dozen cookies this year in order to participate.
“The Magical Cookie Tour was designed to ensure the local community explores and embraces the revitalized Uniontown,” said Jessica McCahill, owner of Gift Peddlers, LLC, and coordinator of this year’s event. “We are looking forward to welcoming hundreds of people to the shops and restaurants of downtown Uniontown.”
Magical Cookie Tour guides are available at Fayette Chamber of Commerce’s office at 65 W. Main Street and all participating business. The guides list all of the participating businesses, along with street addresses and the charity partner. Most importantly, the type of cookies available at each business also is included.
“We are excited to provide the participating organizations an opportunity to raise monies and gain exposure in our local community,” said McCahill. “With that being said, it is also becoming increasingly more vital that our community supports the locally owned businesses of downtown Uniontown as well during these challenging financial times.”
