Floyd C. Couch Jr.

Couch Jr., age 64, of Markleysburg, Pennsylvania passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at his home with his loving Family by his side. “JR” fought a courageous battle against breast and pancreatic cancer since 2006. “JR” was a faithful member of the Union Chapel Church since childhood where he had perfect attendance as a child for 12 years.

He also attended United Mountain Christian Fellowship Church.

His courage for this journey was founded in his faith and his spiritual strength grew stronger because of it. He and his wife looked forward to the Wednesday and Sunday services. His church family was very important to him and was always there to support him at all times. During these years, “JR” became a huge inspiration to others who heard his testimony and watched him throughout his journey.

He was a veteran who served in the Army Reserves.

“JR” had a tremendous work ethic and diligently worked as a Truck Driver for 46 years. He was the Owner/Operator of Couch Trucking. He was well known for his meticulous care of his equipment and home. He was very proud of his 2000 Peterbilt which won numerous awards at various National Truck Shows. He was a well known legend in the trucking industry and respected by all.

He was most proud of his Family. He loved to work around the home and prepare for them to come to visit. His best times were spent at his home with Family and Friends He loved entertaining others. His place was always open and home to many.

“JR” was predeceased by his parents, Floyd C. Couch Sr. and Eldora R. (Martin) Couch; and brother, Gary L. Couch.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Cheryl, who was his high school sweetheart; his sisters: Sandra K. Couch Lowe and her husband Donald of Fairchance, Pennsylvania and Tammie S. (Couch) Aufdenkampe and her husband William of West Palm Beach, Florida; his children: Tonja L. Couch of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Shayne (Couch) Sanderford and husband James of West Palm Beach, Florida and Jason R. Couch of Salem, Ohio; stepchildren: Deborah Byers and husband David of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Jennifer St. Clair and husband Jeffery of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Donald Grothe and his wife Susan of Norfolk, Virginia; seven grandchildren: Aaron St. Clair, Alayna St. Clair, Abigail St. Clair, Justin Byers, Christopher Grothe, Danielle Grothe and Jessica Grothe; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members.

Family will receive Friends in the CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, FARMINGTON, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9.

The funeral will be held Monday, December 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. at UNION CHAPEL CHURCH in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania with the Rev. David Herring and the Rev. Dale Rexrode officiating.

Interment will follow in Thomas Cemeter
