Stanley J. Ference
Stanley J. Ference, 78, of Bobtown, Pennsylvania passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at his home with his loving Family around him. Born on March 20, 1931 in Bobtown, Pennsylvania he was the son of the Stanley Ference and Pauline Orsky Ference.
A 1948 graduate of Mapletown High School, he was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and later joined the United States Navy for a total of over thirteen years in the service.
Heretired after twenty years with the Federal Mine Health and Safety Administration.
He was a member of Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5567 both in Bobtown, Pennsylvania.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather Stanley enjoyed his time with his Family, gardening, and going for walks with his wife of nearly fifty years, Mary Bierer Ference, whom he married April 22, 1960.
He is also survived by four children and their spouses: Michael Ference, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, Steven and Melinda Shuppe, Sue (Shuppe) and Jim Hall all of Dilliner, Pennsylvania, and Shirley (Shuppe) and David Mefford of Morgantown, West Virginia; nine grandchildren and their spouses: James and Kristen Hall of Morgantown, Amy (Hall) and Josh Yakubik, Travis Shuppe and Jessica Shuppe all of Dilliner, Steven Shuppe, Nicole (Fox) and Mike Logan all of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Erica (Mefford) Kenback, Stacey (Mefford) and Calvin Fox all of Waynesburg, Dianna (Mefford) and Vaughn Jackson of Maidsville, West Virginia; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Predeceased are his parents; a sister, Genevieve Perlesnik; a brother, Joe Ference; and two half-brothers, John Kelly and Ben Kelly.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME in Point Marion on Tuesday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday December 23, 2009 until 9:15 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Bobtown, at 10 a.m. with Father Lawrence V. Holpp as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park with Military Rites accorded at graveside by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5567 and the American Legion Post 330.
