Snow blast helps resorts

By S.R. "sandy" Black for The 2 min read

The recent heavy snow that blanketed the East benefited snowsports resorts big time for the holiday period. Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Hidden Valley Resort and Wisp Resort got heavy snow, enabling them to have excellent skiing, snowboarding and cross country conditions for their guests.

The storm moved through the east with snow and cold temperatures, helping Sno Mountain in Scranton and all the Pocono Resorts. It helped give added impact to snowmaking at Hunter Mountain and Plattekill Mountain in the Catskills as well as Greek Peak and Labrador Mountain in Central New York’s powder region.

A previous storm helped Peek’n Peak Resort in western New York, and the northern West Virginia Panhandle Resort of Oglebay Resort, which got 6 inches of snow from the last storm.

Mystic Mountain at Nemacolin Woodlands was in the midst of the heavy Laurel Highlands recent snow dump, helping it as well.

New England Resorts of Stowe Mountain Resort, Mount Snow Resort, Bromley, and Smugglers’ Notch of Vermont as well as Ragged Mountain of New Hampshire received a great snowstorm in mid December, giving them big help on top of their snowmaking base.

Central West Virginia Timberline Resort and Canaan Valley Resort received 2 feet of snow from the last storm.

Colorado Monarch Mountain and Winter Park are doing fantastic, and so the American snowsport industry is in great shape.

Hidden Valley has a mid-week January package that is attractively priced accordingly to a resort spokesperson.

America is in strong shape for your snowsports, ski day, ski weekend, or ski week this season. Check out the above resorts for deals and packages that fit your pocketbook.
