Donald James “Buck” Swihart, Sr.
0000368198-01-1.jpg Donald James “Buck” Swihart, Sr. 64 of Lake Lynn, Pa. passed away unexpectantly December 28, 2009. He was born May 6, 1945 at Jordan’s Harbor, Springhill Twp., Pa. son of Luther Swihart and Darris (Tallman) Swihart.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister Shirley Jean Darnell and brothers David Earl Swihart and Terry Ray Swihart.
Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Cheryl (Grande) Swihart; five children: Lori and Michael Hart, Kimberly Swihart, Tracy Swihart, Donald Swihart, Jr. and Staci Swihart, all of Smithfield, Pa. and Sandi Hicks and her fiancee’ David Yowler, Uniontown, Pa.;15 grandchildren: Miranda Ann, who was very special to him and raised as a daughter, Michala, Megan, Marissa, Madison, Mikey and Mikenna Hart, Jeremiah, Justin, Joshua and Toshia Darnell, Brandon Swaney, Hunter Hicks and Mariah and Emili Swihart; 6 great grandchildren; his faithful dog, Missy Poo; siblings: Carolyn Lee Thompson, Joseph Swihart, Samuel Swihart and William Swihart and many, many special nieces and nephews.
Buck was a carpet store owner/installer for many years in the Fairmont, Morgantown and Bridgeport, W.Va. areas. He previously worked for Misner Marine Construction based in Florida and retired from PCL Marine Construction out of Virginia and then moved back to his home town.
He loved hunting, the Pittsburgh Steelers as long as they were winning and working in his garden with his dog and grandchildren. He will be missed by all that knew him.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Thursday 7-9 p.m., Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, January 2, 2009 until 11:00 a.m. the hour of Service with Pastor Michael Tallman officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Union Cemetery, Morgantown, W.Va.
