Schloemer finishes 20th
Waynesburg Central graduate Zach Schloemer shot a 5-over 75 in the third round at Allegheny Country Club to finish tied for 20th with a 10-over 220 at the 109th Amateur Championship. Schloemer opened the two-day tournament with a two-round total of 5-over 145 on the first day. He carded a 6-over 76 in the morning round, but recovered in the afternoon with a 1-under 69. Pittsburgh’s Nathan Smith finished first, one stroke ahead of Nathan Sutherland and John Popeck.
Smith was the only golfer to shoot par or better all three rounds with a 70, 68 and 69 for a winning total of 3-under 207.
