The Animal Doctor to begin each Sunday in Herald-Standard
By the Herald-Standard For readers who want to learn more about their pets, the Herald-Standard will debut The Animal Doctor, a weekly column that will appear each Sunday featuring syndicated columnist Dr. Michael W. Fox. “We are very please to present the new pet column to our readers,” said Herald-Standard Publisher Val Laub. “Almost everyone has a pet, and I am sure you will enjoy our latest addition to the Herald-Standard. As always, we welcome your feedback, and we thank you for being one of our customers.”
“We think this will be a great addition to our lineup of regular columnists and features,” said Herald-Standard Executive Editor Mark O’Keefe. “We know people here really love their pets, and this will be a great source of information for anyone concerned about their pet.”
The column will appear on the Family page along with the Ask the Coach, HITS and Consumer Reports columns. The Next Steps column is being moved to the E2 page in Sunday’s Feature section. It will appear on the same page with wedding annivesaries.
A question and answer column, Animal Doctor
, will provide readers with the latest news in veterinary care and give important health and safety reminders for all who live with animals.
An expert in both medicine and psychology, Fox’s training includes a degree in veterinary medicine as well as doctorate degrees in medicine and animal behavior/ethology.
A strong advocate of animal rights, bioethics and environmental protection, Fox is an international veterinary consultant to various animal-related organizations. A recipient of the Christopher Award for children’s literature for his book “The Wolf
,” Fox has written more than 40 books for adults and children. He has also written more than 2,000 articles for professional journals and consumer magazines.
Fox lectures extensively to an international audience of conservation and animal protection groups. He has appeared frequently on “The Tonight Show” and as a guest on other network television and radio talk shows and documentaries. He is a member of the British and American Veterinarian Medical Associations, the Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights and the American Holistic Veterinary Association.
Fox lives in Minneapolis with his wife, Deanna.
