Harold Hunt
Harold Hunt, age 88, of Coal Center, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, July 2, 2009. He was born on Saturday, April 2, 1921, in Taylortown, Dunkard Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania, the son of Floyd Hunt and Margaret (Ross) Hunt.
Harold graduated from the former Point Marion (Pa.) High School and also from Michigan Technical Institute. He had attended California State Teachers College.
Harold served for four years as a Corporal in the United States Army Air Corps.
He was retired from the Robena and Maple Creek mines where he was an Electrician for 39 years.
Upon retiring, Harold loved to spend his winters camping in the Florida Keys.
He was a member of the California United Christian Church, Monongahela Valley Lodge No. 461 F. & A.M. in California, Pennsylvania, The Sons of The American Revolution (SAR) Waynesburg Pennsylvania, and California Area Historical Society.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his son, Darryl Keith Hunt of Fairbanks, Alaska (2003); two sisters, Jean Work and Virginia Molnar; and brothers, Roger Hunt and Wayne Hunt.
Left to cherish his memory are: his wife of 63 years, Audrey (Duvall) Hunt; their son, Dennis Hunt and his wife Ginny of El Paso, Texas; a grandson, Ryan Hunt and his wife, Kristen, and one great grandson, Preston Hunt, all of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania.
Friends will be received in the MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, Pa., today (Sunday, July 5, 2009) from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, at 11 a.m. in CALIFORNIA UNITED CHRISTIAN CHURCH, Malden Crossroads, with Rev. Jana Quisenberry and the Rev. Norman C. Hunt co-officiating.
Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the Family requests contributions be made to California United Christian Church at Post Office Box 532, California, PA 15419-0532.
The Masonic Lodge will accord Services in the Funeral Home on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m.
