William Matthew Zeigler, 45 of Sewickley, Pa. and formerly of Ohiopyle, Pa., passed away Monday, July 5, 2009 at Ohiopyle. He was born September 7, 1963, son of Frederick F. and Dolores Zeigler.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother Robert “Buzzard” Zeigler.

Surviving are a brother and four sisters: Karen and John Powell of Sandy Lake, Pa., Frederick F. and Rhonda Zeigler III of Chalk Hill, Pa., Jane Henry and John Fowler of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, Nancy Zeigler and Suzette DiCarlo of Uniontown, Pa. and Judy and Scott Umstead of Sewickley, Pa.; Thirteen nieces and nephews and four great nieces and nephews.

Billy was a 1981 graduate of Uniontown High School where he was a standout gymnast and diver. He attended Slippery Rock University and the University of Pittsburgh and was a lifelong gymnastic coach.

Billy died peacefully at home surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. The family is having a private Family – Only service at the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME in Hopwood, Pa. and request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to: Alexandra’s Butterflies of Hope, One Millennium Drive, Uniontown, PA 15401, a charitable trust. This money is used to assist families with childhood cancers with their expenses. Donations are tax deductible to this registered charity.
