Irene Nahory Bryan

Irene (Nahory) Bryan of Uniontown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Mount Macrina Manor on July 8, 2009. She was born July 1, 1919 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania and was the youngest daughter and only surviving child of Alex and Julia (Koska) Nahory.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael “Romy” Bryan, whom she married on June 29, 1940, and the following brothers and sisters: Alex, Elizabeth, Joseph, Andy, John, Frank, Rose, Paul, Charles, Margaret and Ed.

Irene recently celebrated her 90th birthday and was honored with a party hosted by her children.

She was an active member of Saint Ellien’s Orthodox Church in Brownsville, having served as President of the Myrrh Bearing Women’s Society for many years.

Family was very important to Irene and all who knew her loved her. She enjoyed crocheting baby afghans and cooking and baking her famous apricot cookies.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Michael Bryan and his wife Karen of Uniontown, Carol Bryan, currently living in Brunei, Janice Aubin and her husband Fran of Aliquippa and Sally Bryan and her fianc? Fred Dobek of Uniontown with whom she made her home; her grandchildren: Michael John Bryan, Joshua Aubin, Brianne Aubin and Kelly Vanassa and her great – grandchildren: Hayden and Ella Bryan and Madison and Lauryl Vanassa. The grandchildren will fondly remember the times they spent with their loving “Sittoo”.

Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, PA., (today) Friday, July 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday morning until 9:15 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said followed by a 10 a.m. Divine Liturgy in Saint Ellien’s Orthodox Church, Brownsville with the Rev. Father Fred Pfiel officiating and assisted by Deacon Glenn McIntyre. Trisagion Service will be held today at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Interment follows in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mt. Macrina Manor for making Irene’s last days comfortable and a special thank you to Sister Petrinella for her comforting music and many compassionate words.
