Students ear Kornuth Award
Kenwyn DeHaas and Quinn Yodens were awarded the Kormuth Award of Achievement at the recent Jefferson-Morgan annual awards banquet. Mathias and Rosetta DeVito presented the award. The scholarship was established to commemorate and mark the appreciation of the Cyril and Julia Kormuth family of Clarksville, five members of which graduated from Jefferson-Morgan High School. The award is valued at $8,000 at $2,000 per year over four years.
DeHaas, daughter of Bruce and Stephanie DeHaas of Clarksville, also received the Michelle McMillen and the Clarksville Lions Club scholarships at the awards banquet.
She was president of the senior class, yearbook editor, vice president of National Honor Society and a member of the Foreign Language Club. She participated in the school Big Brother/Big Sister program by mentoring a student in elementary school. DeHaas plans to attend California University of Pennsylvania to major in elementary education.
Yodens, son of David and Peggy Yodens of Clarksville, served as president of Student Council and a member of track team, debate team, the Envirothon team, the National Honor Society, the Leo Club and the Interact Club.
He plans to attend Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, where he received the Chancellor’s Award, to major in mechanical engineering.
