Wilbert A. Bailey
Wilbert A. Bailey, age 78, of Connellsville, Pa., passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009, in the Excela Health Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He was born April 28, 1931, in Scottdale, Pa., the son of Clarence Henry Bailey and Iva Mae Price Bailey.
He was a longtime resident of Connellsville.
Wilbert was a veteran of the Korean War who served in the United States Army and a member of American Legion Post 762 Trotter, Pennsylvania
Wilbert worked for United States Steel Corporation at its McKeesport Works for 30 years, then for the former Modulus Corporation in Mount Pleasant, Pa., then retired as an Equipment Operator from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) in 1996.
He was Baptist by faith.
In addition to his parents, Wilbert was predeceased by his son, Joseph A. Bailey in 1993; a sister, Thelma Terry; and his brothers, Clarence Bailey and Albert Bailey.
Wilbert is survived by his loving wife, Helen Craggette Bailey; by his son, Jonathan Bailey of Connellsville, Pa.; his daughter, Anissa Walker of Connellsville, Pa.; his three grandchildren: Xavier Wormack, Emree Downey and Jonna Bailey all of Connellsville, Pa.; and his sisters: Irene Corbin of West Newton, Pa., Mildred Gross of Indiana state, and his sister, Pearl.
Family and Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., where a Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Nathaniel Milton officiating.
A Committal Service and interment will follow in the Mount Auburn Cemetery, Dunbar Township, Pa.
Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Connellsville Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion and Trotter American Legion Honor Guard.
