Gertrude I. (Hoferka) Sprusansky, 73, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009, in Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa. She was born on July 21, 1935, the daughter of Andrew Hoferka and Slava (Latin) Hoferka.

Gertrude was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, The First Catholic Slovak Lodge Union, Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary, and Retired Hospital Employees Association (RHEA) formed in May of 1991.

She was a previous volunteer with the Uniontown Hospital and also Saint Vincent DePaul Society.

Gertrude was a avid bowler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William S. Sprusansky; and her brother, Andrew Hoferka.

Left to cherish her memory are: her brother, John T. Hoferka; two sisters: Mary Hoferka and Betty Mutz and her husband Richard; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today, July 13, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday July 14, 2009, until 9 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Old Walnut Hill Road, with Rev. Father Alexander L. Pleban as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.

Saint Joseph’s Ministry of Consolation will have the Christian Prayer Service in the Funeral Home today at 7:15 p.m.
