University to present ‘Little Shop of Horrors’

1 min read

Waynesburg University’s Celebrating the Arts series will present a community production of “Little Shop of Horrors” on Thursday, July 23 through Saturday, July 25. The performances will be held in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Admission is $5 and the public is cordially invited to attend.

The cast includes alumni, current students and members of the local community.

“Little Shop of Horrors” is a musical comedy that satirizes science fiction films and theatre itself. According to Music Theatre International, “Seymour Krelborn is a down-and-out floral assistant who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood.”

Seymour names the plant after his girlfriend Audrey, but soon Audrey II becomes the central figure in this young man’s life.

According to Edward L. Powers, director and associate professor of theatre at Waynesburg University, “Little Shop of Horrors” is a fun, high-energy production.
