Water work planned
Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority will have the water shut off today through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Menallen Township, and surrounding areas to upgrade the system.
Customers may experience low pressure or no water and are advised to keep some containers of water to minimize the outage, the authority said.
Tribute scheduled
Liberty Baptist Church in North Union Township announced that a radio tribute to Ewing Marcus Marietta II, son of the Rev. Ewing Marietta, will be aired at 10:20 a.m. Thursday on WMBS radio in Uniontown.
Marietta II, 18, died Wednesday from injuries suffered in a car crash early July 12 in North Union Township.
State police said the crash occurred when the vehicle driven by the Connellsville High School senior struck the concrete barrier on Route 40, two miles west of Jumonville Road at 2:45 a.m.
The vehicle overturned and Marietta II was ejected from the car, state police said.
Marietta was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., by emergency medical helicopter and died three days later from his injuries.
According to his father, Marietta was returning home from a football camp in Virginia when the crash occurred.
