Three Uniontown policemen injured

3 min read

Three Uniontown police officers suffered injuries early Friday when they responded to a domestic dispute in the city. As a result, police said Troy R. Drake, of 79 Park Ave., Uniontown was charged before Magisterial District Judge Michael Defino with aggravated assault on a police officer, simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. According to Officer Jennifer Field, the incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. when police responded to the home for a report of a domestic dispute. Field said that Drake and his wife, Naomi Drake, along with Troy Drake’s mother, Etta Drake, were all outside the home arguing when officers arrived.

Field said that Troy Drake told officers that he wanted his wife removed from the home.

As officers tried to explain that they could not force Naomi Drake to leave the home, Troy Drake became angry and told officers that he would hurt her if she wasn’t removed.

Field said that Officer Ray Miller tried to calm down Troy Drake and repeatedly told him to stop yelling and swearing but he continued to do so.

During the argument, Field said that Drake picked up two garbage bags filled with items owned by Naomi Drake that were lying on the porch and threw them toward police.

Field said one of the bags struck her in the legs and feet and the second bag struck Miller as he turned toward Troy Drake.

Field said Miller then told Troy Drake that he was under arrest for disorderly conduct.

“As he went to secure Drake, Drake lunged at him and attempted to grab his throat,” Field wrote in her report.

Troy Drake then grabbed a metal chair and threw it at Field, striking her in the legs, Field said.

Field said Troy Drake then turned on Miller again and the two got into a physical altercation and tumbled to the ground.

Field said Officer Frederick Kampert also became involved in the scuffle and both officers wrestled with Troy Drake to try and secure him.

Field said she had to shoot Troy Drake repeatedly with her Taser gun to eventually take him into custody.

As a result of the incident, Field said she suffered minor injuries to her left leg, Kampert suffered minor injuries to his right hand and left knee and Miller suffered injuries to his right hand and right knee, as well as injuries to his back and neck. Miller was treated at Uniontown Hospital.

Tory Drake was placed in the Fayette County Prison on $35,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment.
