2 min read

The Association of Fundraising Professionals of Western Pennsylvania has named the Community Foundation of Fayette County (CFFC) as the Outstanding Foundation of Western Pennsylvania for this year. The award will be presented as part of the National Philanthropy Day celebration on Nov. 11 in a ceremony at the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh, which will include a reception. The criteria for selection of outstanding foundation includes: exemplary record of civic responsibility in support of philanthropic causes; distinguished service with creative and innovative programming; encouraged and motivated others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement; grant process that is accessible and consistent with its publicly stated mission; and advanced philanthropy in general.

Past recipients include the Grable Foundation, the Buhl Foundation, the Katherine Mabis McKenna Foundation, the Pittsburgh Foundation, Eden Hall Foundation, FISA Foundation and the Mario Lemieux Foundation.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals is a professional society whose members are actively employed by nonprofit organizations or by consulting firms that work directly for nonprofit organizations.

All members agree to abide by a code of ethical principles and standards of professional practice that outline the principles of conduct expected of them in pursuit of fundraising responsibilities.

The association’s annual philanthropy awards recognize outstanding achievement by individual philanthropists, organizations and foundations.

“We are greatly pleased to have been chosen for this honorable recognition. It is through the hard work and dedication of our executive director, Clara Pascoe, the CFFC staff and board that this has been made possible.

Coupled with our recent approval for full national accreditation by the Council on Foundations and reaching the million-dollar mark in grant making, this year has been incredible for us,” stated Scott Whyel, CFFC board chairman.

The Community Foundation of Fayette County provides many services to both Fayette County and the region, including donor services, investment guidance, grant-making to nonprofits and community leadership.

In addition, through a partnership with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, arts and cultural awards are made to Fayette, Greene and Washington counties.
