William “Bill” Dufour
William Bill Dufour, 93, of Fairchance, Pa., went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, in the Uniontown Hospital with his loving wife of 20 years, Janice, at his side. He was born June 21, 1915, in Point Marion, Pa., son of the late Frank and Rosalie Dupont Dufour.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Roger Dufour, Frank Dufour, Robert Dufour and George Dufour and three sisters, Ann M. Dufour, Rose Packalik and Blanche Dufour.
He was a graduate of Point Marion High School, class of 1936, where he played football and basketball. “Bill” was a former employee of West Penn Power Co. and retired in 1978 after 45 years of service. He was a life member of the Uniontown Fire Department (Keystone Hose Company) with 59 years of service.
“Bill” attended Abundant Life Church, which was so dear to his heart. He loved the people and the worship time. He enjoyed gardening and was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Until he became sick, he enjoyed his morning coffee at the Route 21 McDonalds with his friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Farrier Dufour, whom he married on November 7, 1988. He was a loving father and grandfather to Diane Gaudino of Beaver, Pa., Bill and Charlotte Dufour and their children, Bill and wife Laura and Amy of Long Beach, Calif., Gary Dufour of Weirton, W.Va., Gregg Dufour of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mark and Denise (Dufour) Bressi and their children, Anthony and Alysia of Irwin, Pa. His loving stepchildren and grandchildren: Jay and Denise (Newman) Campbell of Fairchance, Pa., and their children, Justin of Fairmont, W.Va., and Krista Ohler and husband Chad of Fairchance, Pa., Cynthia and Gerald Kelley and their children, Gerald, John and Jarrett of Fairchance, Pa., Tim Guthrie of Fairchance, Pa., Deron Newman and wife Lori and their children, Lauren and Josh of Newville, Pa. Also surviving are a sister, Violet Smith and husband Alfred of Greensboro, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today, June 4, 2009, from 2 to 9 p.m. Additional viewing will be held in the ABUNDANT LIFE CHURCH, 1239 Brownfield Road, Uniontown, Pa., on Friday, June 5, 2009, from 10 to 11 a.m. Services begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Nicholas Cook officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
Uniontown Fire Department will hold services at 7:30 p.m. today.
