Join Hands Day event set for Mount St. Macrina
Volunteer efforts for the 75th Annual Pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help will begin with Join Hands Day, which is observed each year when young people and adults combine their strengths to produce meaningful results in neighborhood, community or special projects. It will be celebrated Saturday at Mount St. Macrina in Uniontown. Youths and faithful of the Byzantine Catholic Archeparchy of Pittsburgh, the GCU (a fraternal benefit society serving Byzantine Catholics since 1892), and the many friends of the Sisters of Saint Basil the Great come together for a common cause. Volunteers will clear floral gardens, shrines, urns and other planting areas throughout the picturesque grounds, and then plant annuals. Another work center will be the Light Lunch dining area where the pavilions will be cleared of a winter’s worth of leaves and other accumulation. For anyone interested in participating in this worthwhile project: The group will meet in the Trinity Center at Mount St. Macrina for coffee and donuts at 9:30 a.m. followed by a brief prayer service, and begin working at 10 a.m. Participants can bring lawn tools (including brooms, rakes, weed whackers, etc.) for outside work, and brooms, mops, dust pans, etc. for indoor cleaning. Lunch will be served.
