Uniontown man acquitted in shooting incident
A Uniontown man was acquitted of aggravated assault, but convicted of multiple counts of simple assault for firing shots at two occupied cars last December. Additionally, a Fayette County judge has dismissed charges of attempted homicide that were filed against Tito Santana Bailey, 19, of Berkley Street. Police alleged that just after 3 a.m. on Dec. 19, Bailey was standing outside his home and fired multiple rounds into two vehicles, driven by Robert Hickey Jr. and Samantha Miller.
Hickey had two passengers in his car, and Miller had one passenger in her car, police said.
Both cars had several bullet holes in them as a result of the alleged shooting, police said.
When city police initially responded to the area, they initially did not find any evidence of a shooting.
However, a short time later, state police called them and said the two drivers reported the shooting to them, and directed city police to a North Union Township home.
While police searched Bailey’s home, they were unable to find a gun, but did find several rounds of ammunition, authorities indicated.
Assistant District Attorney Michelle L. Kelley prosecuted the case.
Assistant Public Defender Michael Garofalo represented Bailey.
Judge Steve P. Leskinen will sentence Bailey at a later date.
