Mary Auther Kavlick

Mary Auther Kavlick, 87, of Bobtown, Pa., passed away quietly Saturday, June 6, 2009 at her home. Born in Morgantown, W.Va. on August 26, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Nola Helen Ludlam Auther.

A 1939 graduate of Point Marion High School, she was a faithful member of St. Ignatius of Antioch R.C. Church and the Rosary Altar Society. She was Past President of the Shannopin Civic Club and member of the Senior Citizens, both in Bobtown and a widows member of the United Mine Workers of America.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Vincent and Karen Kavlick of Green Valley, Arizona and David and Mary Kavlick of Pasadena, Maryland, two daughters, Mary Jo Hood and husband, James of Connellsville, Pa. and Lucille Fralick of Knoxville, Tenn., three grandsons, Craig Fralick of Los Angeles, James Hood, II and Joel Hood and wife, Mary, all of Connellsville, a granddaughter, Jill Hood Underhill and husband, William, and their sons, Will and Charlie all of Richmond, Texas, a sister, Patricia Fabiszewski and husband, Thomas of Allison Park, Pa. and two brothers, Howard Auther and wife, Virginia of Springfield, Va. and Alexander Auther of Bobtown. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Loretta Auther of Brook Park, Ohio, Jacinta Auther of Woodinville, Washington, Anna Miller and Eleanor Kavlick, both of Bobtown, an aunt, Dorothy Liberty Auther of Fayette City, Pa., and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased are her husband, Walter R. Kavlick on July 24, 1983, two sons, Bernard Kavlick in 1960, Linus “Lanny” Kavlick in 1997, three brothers, Stanley “Stush” Auther, William “Bill” Auther, and Ralph Auther and a sister, Mildred Pennington.

Family will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, Wednesday from 2 4 and 7 – 9 p.m., and Thursday until 10:15 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius R.C. Church, Bobtown, with Rev. Fr. Lawrence V. Holpp as celebrant.

Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion.

Parish vigil service will be held Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
