Wallace G. Ober
Wallace G. Ober, age 90 of Markleysburg, Pa., died Monday, June 8, 2009 in the Mon Valley General Hospital. He was born July 4, 1918 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of George Ober and Alta (Cella) Ober.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Jean Ober on March 3, 2009, an infant son and a brother Melvin Ober.
Wallace was a graduate of Dormont High School and attended Edinboro College for two years. He served with the U. S. Army in the Signaling Corp during World War II. Wallace was an industrial portraits supervisor with U. S. Steel. He enjoyed traveling, camping, photography and playing the organ.
Wallace is survived by one son Wallace G. Ober II of Pittsburgh and two daughters: Cheryl Linder and husband Wes of Markleysburg and Diane Lynn Hughes of Ashburn, Va.; seven grandchildren: Tyler Hughes, Britta Hughes, Dawn Martin, Wesley Linder, Marcy Ober, Justin W. Ober and Laura Ober; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where friends will be received on Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 1 until 3 p.m. at which time a service celebrating Wallace’s life will be held with the Rev. Terry Colling officiating.
