A New Salem man suffered a foot injury after jumping from a car before it went down an embankment after the brakes failed in Redstone Township Monday afternoon, state police said. Aaron R. Murphy, 24, was driving a 1989 Buick Park Avenue on Wall Street, just east of Agnes Street, when the brakes failed at 2:55 p.m., police said. The car traveled into a grassy area at the end of the street and Murphy jumped from the car, police said.

The car continued going down an embankment and into a ditch, police said.

Murphy injured his right foot and was treated at Uniontown Hospital, police said.
