Ride for Hope passes through area
Bicyclists for the Ride for Hope for Christ’s Hope International stopped at Jackson Farms on Route 40 this week on their way to the East Coast. The group began its journey in San Francisco on June 7. The group consists of four teams of four riders each. The riders are accompanied on their journey by four vans. Their cross-country journey ends near Annapolis at Sandy Point, Md., where they will dip their wheels in the Atlantic Ocean. The organization raises money that benefits orphans in Africa who are victims of AIDS. The organization has raised $100,000 towards “bringing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.” The riders were to stay in Baltimore, Md., on Monday night. The riders consist of three Sacramento, Calif., natives and one Rhode Island man. The team averages 100 miles per day as they leapfrog with the other teams to make their way across the country.
