Frank J. Laboda
Frank J. Laboda, age 86. of Low Hill, Washinton County, Pa., died Thursday, June 18, 2009, in McMurray Hills Manor, McMurray, Pa. Born on February 6, 1923, in Marianna, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Frank Laboda Sr. and Mary (Smoggie) Laboda Saxon Illar.
Frank was a former member of the former Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and a member of The Historic Church of Saint Peter in Brownsville, Pa., member of the Holy Name Society and The Knights of Columbus.
He was a Veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army Air Corps 615th Bombardment Squadron Heavy.
Frank was a member of the American Legion Post 391 in Fredericktown, Pennsylvania.
He retired from the Gateway Coal Mine and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America for 50 years.
Frank was predeceased by his Parents, Wife, Mary Corodi Laboda; Sister, Elizabeth Taft; and Brother, John Saxon.
He is survived by a Daughter, Joyce Lemster and husband Duff, Pittsburgh, Pa.; and two Sisters: Mary Peteritis and Irene Keatley both of Painesville, Ohio.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held on Monday, June 22, at 9:30 a.m.
Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in The Historic Church of Saint Peter in Brownsville, Pa. with the Rev. Father Vincent Gigliotti as Celebrant.
Interment at Saint Mary’s Cemetery where Full Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 391 of Fredericktown, Pennsylvania.
Wake Service will be held in the funeral home today at 8:30.
