Edward Ray Dennis

Edward Ray Dennis, age 86, of Smithfield (Whitehouse), Pa., passed away suddenly Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Uniontown Hospital. He was born on January 20, 1923, at Davison, Fayette County, Pa., the son of the now late Luke Dennis and Mae Wolfe Dennis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters; twin sisters in infancy, Emma Jean Dennis and Shirley Ann Dennis; brother, Ralph “Bud” Dennis; and sisters, Dorothy Gates and Mary Wolfe.

Because Edward Ray and their mother, Mae Dennis, made their home all of their lives with his brother, Joseph, he was especially close to “Joe” and to his nieces: Jodie Dennis Wilson and her daughter Jordan now of Gans, Pa., Sharon Dennis of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Brenda Dennis Gower and husband Wes, Fairchance, Pa.

He loved his entire Family and loved caring for their property and spending time outdoors.

He was also an avid gardner for many years.

He is also survived by two sisters, Iona “Kate” Smith of Point Marion, Pa., and Ruth Myers of Smithfield, Pa.; two brothers: Delbert “Laddie” Dennis and wife Delores of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and of course, his brother, Joe; a number of other nieces and nephews.

The Family will receive Friends in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME located in Smithfield, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, June 24, until 11 a.m. when Services will be conducted with the Rev. George W. McLaughlin officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Grove Church Cemetery, Lake Lynn, Pa.
