Flenniken Library announces events
The Flenniken Public Library, located at 102 East George St. in Carmichaels, recently announced the following events and announcements: n The library will be closed on Saturday, July 4 in celebration of Independence Day. Regular library services will resume on Monday, July 6 at 10 a.m. Library resources are always available on the web site.
n Flenniken Public Library flamingo polo shirts are on sale at the library for $20 each in a variety of sizes. They may be purchased at the circulation desk, or ordered by mail using the order form on the library’s web site, www.flenniken.org.
n Registration is open for summer tutoring. Call the library for more information. This service is partially funded by the Greene County United Way.
n The library will host an AARP driving class on July 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The class will meet for four hours each day. Drivers age 50 or older who complete the two-day course will be eligible to receive a five percent discount on their auto insurance.
The course will be taught by AARP certified instructor Eileen Mazza. Fees are $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Class size is limited. Call the library at 724-966-5263 to register. Topics to be covered include defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws, rules of the road, and age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to request in advance any special arrangements they may need to participate in the AARP driver safety program.
n Library hours are: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
