Thomas P. Smitley, age 87, of West Leisenring, Pa., died Thursday, June 25, 2009, in the Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He was born August 3, 1921, in Dunbar, Pennsylvania, the son of Peter Charles Smitley and Jane Reed Smitley.

Thomas was an a Electrician employed by Miller Electric.

He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 in Uniontown, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two Sisters and three Brothers: Agnes Nahar, P.C. Smitley, Don Cameron Smitley, Jack Smitley and Millicent Churry; also Infant Brothers and Infant Sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Gardner Smitley; one Daughter, Lynette McKnight and her husband Joe, Valiate, New York; three StepChildren: Bill and Cheryl, Carol, and Keith; one Sister: Mildred DeBlasio of Butler, Pa.; Grandson, Jeffrey Yocabet whom he and Viola raised; three Grandchildren; seven Step-Grandchildren; five Great-Grandchildren; four Step-Great-Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.

Family will receive Friends in the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME at 28 Connellsville Street, Dunbar, Pa., on Sunday, June 28, 2009, from 2 to 9 p.m. and Monday, June 29, 2009, until 3 p.m., the hour of Service with Pastor Lee Maley officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, where Military Honors and Rites will be accorded by the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103, Hopwood

Thanks to the nurses and staff of Mount Macrina Manor where Thomas was a guest and made many Friends.
