Two charged in assault
Two people are in the Greene County Prison after they allegedly assaulted two women at the Dunkard Terrace Mobile Home Park on Thursday. State police in Waynesburg said Charles Raymond Smith, 47, of Akron, Ohio, and Beth Ann Wilson, 30, of Morgantown, W.Va., assaulted Rachelle Louise Petrucci and Dianna Lyn Crawford in the back yard of the one of the lots around 9:30 p.m. Trooper David Schweikart indicated in a criminal complaint that Wilson called Petrucci’s father a name, and when Petrucci tried to leave, alleged that Wilson pushed her. Police said that Petrucci pushed back, and Wilson started hitting her.
Crawford tried to break up the fight, police said, and Smith grabbed her by the throat and hit her in the back.
Then he punched Petrucci in the face and kicked her in the left side of the chest, causing injuries, police said.
Schweikart said he noticed that Petrucci had swelling to her eyes and a bloody nose. Police said she had trouble speaking because of the injuries to her head.
Authorities were unable to find Smith and Wilson, but around 11:15 p.m. were called back to the mobile home court. When they arrived, Schweikart said Crawford and Wilson were there, and both were “visibly intoxicated.”
When Cpl. Steven C. Dowlin tried to take Smith into custody, and ordered him to the ground, police said that Smith repeatedly refused.
Police had to eventually use a Taser to get Smith to comply.
Smith and Wilson were both charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and two counts of harassment. Additionally, Smith was charged with resisting arrest.
Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson arraigned both. Wilson was committed to the Greene County Jail on $2,500 bond and Smith was committed to the jail on $7,500 bond.
