Dominick R. “Nick” Chiera
Dominick R. “Nick” Chiera, 90 years, of Fredericktown Pennsylvania, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, in Cherry Tree Nursing Center, Uniontown, Pennsylvania. Born December 14, 1918, in Marianna, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Antonio Chiera and Anna (LaFranca) Chiera.
Mr. Chiera was self employed, owning a Lawn Care & Landscaping business. He specialized in small engine repairs.
He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed camping and fishing in the Laurel Mountains.
He also enjoyed going to flea markets and garage sales.
He looked forward to planting his garden each year and relished tending his flowers.
As a hobby, he also collected pen knives.
Mr. Chiera was a member of the Hanson Cole American Legion Post No. 391 in Fredericktown, a member of the now defunct Citizens Band Radio Club, and a member of Beth-Center Senior Citizens in Vestaburg, Pennsylvania.
He was an Honorably Discharged World War II Veteran who served as a Military Policeman (M.P.) in the United States Army, 1325th S.U. Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.
He was married to Effie Poling Chiera. Effie died on October 25, 1973.
Deceased, in addition to his parents and his wife, are two sons, Stanley D. Chiera and Lloyd A. Chiera, three bothers, Anthony Chiera, Carl Chiera, and Paul Chiera, and three sisters, Mary Bado, Virginia “Nina” Lawrence and Rose Kesteloot.
Mr. Chiera was the last of his immediate Family and is survived by several Nieces and Nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, Pennsylvania, where Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Scott Gallagher officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fredericktown Cemetery.
Full Military Rites will be accorded by the Hanson Cole American Legion Post No. 391, Fredericktown, Pennsylvania.
