Olive A. “Jane” Casteel Calvert

Olive A. “Jane” (Casteel) Calvert, age 81 years, of Ridgeley Road in Morgantown, West Virginia, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009, at her home. “Jane” was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, on November 28, 1927, the daughter of Dailey A. Casteel and Mary (Savage) Casteel and George R. Johnson.

“Jane” was a member of the Morgantown Church of The Brethren.

She was a former employee of Comuntzis Restaurant and several other downtown restaurants in the Morgantown Area.

She retired after 17 years of service from the West Virginia University’s Physical Plant in the Maintenance Department.

An avid Mountaineer fan, “Jane” held season tickets for over 22 years!

She had a love and was a philanthropist for the welfare of animals.

“Jane” loved camping and swimming prior to her illness.

She is survived by her son, Eugene L. Calvert, a Sister, Gladys V. Moore, nephews: Joe V. Moore and Scott L. Gibson, and a grandson, Scott M. Calvert, all of Morgantown, West Virginia; her two very faithful companions: Corky and Chester; many special beloved cousins in Ohio and Pennsylvania; and many dear friends including her very best friend, Ellen Wilson of Kingwood, West Virginia.

In addition to her parents, “Jane” was preceded in death by her son, Terry A. Calvert, brother, Thomas A. Johnson, and a grandson, Douglas E. Calvert.

Family and Friends will be received at the HASTINGS FUNERAL HOME, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, WV 26505 (304.292.8664) today (Sunday, May 3, 2009) from 3 to 6 p.m. and on Monday, May 4, 2009, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at the MORGANTOWN CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN, 464 Virginia Avenue, from 12 Noon until 1 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the Church at 1 p.m. with Pastor Torin Eikler, Pastor Carrie Eikler and Pastor Gwen McKinley officiating.

Interment will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery.

“Jane” will deeply be missed!
