Raymond Louis Hall Jr.

Raymond Louis Hall Jr., 66, of Washington, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Dunbar, Pennsylvania, went to be with his Maker on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, from the Washington (Pa.) Hospital. He was born May 2, 1942, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, the son of L. Raymond Hall and Betsy Huey Hall.

After graduation from the now former Dunbar Township High School, Mr. Hall enlisted in the United States Navy. He served from June 22, 1960, until his Honorable Discharge on March 20, 1964. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

Following his naval service, Mr. Hall worked as a truck driver for UPS (United Parcel Service), retiring after 37 years of service.

He enjoyed woodworking, trips to Colorado, and all outdoor activities–especially kayaking, canoeing, camping.

He was a 40-plus year member of the Chartiers Crossroads Presbyterian Church where he had served as an Elder.

On March 9, 1963, Raymond married Brenda Kay Lynn, who survives. Together they raised four children: Jeffrey Hall of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Michelle (Pete) Steffan of Washington, Pa., Gregory (Christy) Hall of McDonald, Pennsylvania, and Brian Hall of Claysville, Pennsylvania.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Natalie Hall Harps, Sammantha Hall, Joshua Ray Hall, D. J. Higgins Jr., Kaitlyn Steffan, Victoria Steffan, Brandon Ansell and Kayla Clark; and four great grandchildren: Brendan Harps, C. J. Harps, Sharon Leonard, Shannon Leonard.

He also leaves behind Gary McGaughey, whom he considered a brother.

Those that went on before him are his parents, a sister, Ruth Eleanor Hall, a grand daughter, Tammie Leonard, and two great granddaughters, Amanda Steffan and Kelly Leonard.

Friends will be received on Monday, May 4, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the WILLIAM G. NEAL FUNERAL HOMES LTD., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301 (724.225.8122).

Services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, in CHARTIERS CROSSSROADS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

Military Rites and Honors will be accorded graveside by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
