Roy Gordon Wiles, Sr.
Roy Gordon Wiles, Sr., 75, of Smithfield, Pa., passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born in Bruceton Mills, W. Va., on May 24, 1933, a son of the late Brown Wiles and Lucy Rebecca Teets Wiles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Wiles and two sisters, Betty Bankhead and Isa Wiles and one grandson, Brandon Hoone.
Roy was a retired coal miner from Dunkard Mine having belonged to the U.M.W.A. District 04 and the Carmichaels Local Union.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Dillow Wiles and the following children: Debbie Hoone and her husband, Roger of Pt. Marion, Pa., Jason Wiles and his wife, Manila of Smithfield, Pa., Roy Wiles, Jr. and his wife, Dottie of Smithfield, Carol Spanovich and her husband, Samuel of Ohio, Rebecca Wiles and her fiance’, Rodney Hartwick of Lake Lynn, and Marce Addis and her husband, Richard of Smithfield; two brothers: Elmer Wiles of Shoaf, Pa., and Harold Wiles and his wife, Maxine of Uniontown; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME, located in Smithfield, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 9, 2009, until 11 a.m. when services will be conducted with Pastor Howard Foust officiating.
Interment will be in Mt. Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
