2 min read

The Greene Academy of Art met April 28 in the academy at Carmichaels, and the directors agreed to become a Gold sponsor in the first annual Loretta Burch Scholarship Fund Fun Run/Walk. The event will be held at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, May 23, and participants will assemble at the Carmichaels Area High School. The underpass will be the starting and ending point. There will be three categories for sponsors and awards. The academy donation is $500. The scholarship will go to a Carmichaels Area High School senior who plans to attend California University and major in education. It will be in memory of Loretta Burch who taught in the high school for many years. A committee of three will screen the applicants.

Nancy Reynolds, chairman for the annual Covered Bridge Festival, reported there is an unprecedented response this year for applications for vendors. The allotted spaces for the vendors will be at a premium due to the limited space. The 39th Covered Bridge Festival will be held Sept. 19 and 20 at the academy.

The directors are urging the general public to attend the Tuesday, May 26 meeting. The business meeting will include the election of five directors for the class of 2009-2011. A fellowship meeting will be held in the fall.
