Uniontown man escapes from probation officers
A 21-year-old Uniontown man wanted for violating his probation was able to break free from two Fayette County Adult Probation officers Tuesday afternoon. Uniontown police said the incident occurred at 4:24 p.m. when Roger Weygant came to the adult probation office on Main Street to report for the month as required the terms of his probation. While at the probation office, officials discovered that a warrant had been issued for Weygant’s arrest for violating the terms of his probation. He was then handcuffed and taken into custody.
Police said that while two probation officers were escorting Weygant to the Fayette County Prison, he was able to break free from their grasps and run for a vehicle.
Police said that Weygant got into the gray Audi car he arrived in and forced a woman from the driver’s seat.
He fought with both probation officers who tried to take him into custody and was able to kick his way into the driver’s seat, despite still being handcuffed, and drive from the scene.
Police said they notified area police departments of the escape and patrolled the city for Weygant but said he was not discovered.
Police said additional charges will be filed against Weygant for his actions Tuesday.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-430-2929.
The probation office did not return a telephone message Thursday.
