County hires new CYS director
The Greene County Salary Board recently hired Dolores “Dee Dee” Blosnich as Greene County Children and Youth Services Administrator. Blosnich, who worked as a Greene County CYS caseworker in the mid-1990’s, will be responsible for administering direct services to county children, youth and families within the integrated Department of Human Services. She will also oversee new initiatives and changes within the program to better serve the community. “Having gained more knowledge and experience in working with kids and their families, I wanted to get back into the public sector and make an impact on the way that children and their families receive services and how they perceive the child welfare system,” said Blosnich, who previously worked for Pressley Ridge in Pittsburgh. “There are lots of exciting things happening here in the county, and I look forward to being a part of that integration.”
A native of Dry Tavern, Blosnich received a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from Penn State Fayette in 1993; an associate’s degree in specialized technology/funeral service and embalming from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1998; and a master’s degree in criminal justice from California University of Pennsylvania in 2006. Blosnich is also certified as a master’s-level therapist through the Family Based Mental Health Training Center offered by UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside’s Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh.
From 1994 to 1997, Blosnich worked as a caseworker in Greene County CYS, before joining Southwood Hospital in Bridgeville as therapeutic staff support from 1997 to 1999. Between 1999 and 2001, Blosnich worked as a juvenile probation officer in Fayette County, then as a pre-need funeral director for Service Corporation International in Philadelphia. In 2001, Blosnich joined Pressley Ridge in Pittsburgh and served as a family specialist, a family support consultant and a customer relations specialist before returning to Greene County.
