Election updates, changes listed

2 min read

WAYNESBURG – The Greene County elections office recently announced several important updates and changes regarding the May 19 municipal primary election. Two polling place changes will be in effect during the primary election. The Perry Township precinct polling place has permanently moved to the Senior Citizens’ Center at 303 Mt. Morris Road in Mt. Morris, and the polling place for the Greensboro Borough precinct has temporarily moved to the Log Cabin at the corner of Front and County streets in Greensboro. All 44 precinct polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 19 for the municipal primary election. The deadline for absentee ballots to be returned to the elections office is 5 p.m. Friday, May 15.

Frances Pratt, director of elections, would also like to remind voters that a sample ES&S iVotronic voting machine will remain on display in the elections office through Tuesday for anyone wishing to practice using the machine. Voters will see the ballot as it will appear Tuesday and can run through the steps to casting their votes on the touch-screen machine.

Pratt would also like to encourage voters interested in working on a precinct’s board of elections to sign up on the appropriate sheet when they arrive to vote Tuesday.

For more information, call 724-852-5230, or visit the elections office on the first floor of the Greene County Office Building at 93 E. High St. in Waynesburg.

The office is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, but will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Election Day.
