Lawver, Bush, Zivkovich earn Brownsville council Democratic nods
BROWNSVILLE – Four Democrats were seeking the nominations for the three seats that will be coming open on Brownsville Borough Council. No Republican candidates filed nominating petitions. Appearing on the ballot were incumbents Tom Bush, Jack Lawver and Tracy Sheehan Zivkovich, along with challenger Paul Synuria II. A fifth person, Ross Sword, was stricken from the ballot by the Fayette County Courts, but had said he would run a write-in campaign. The Fayette County Election Bureau does not report the write-in tally the night of the election. With all three precincts counted, the unofficial tally showed the three incumbents winning the party nominations, with Lawver receiving 353 votes, Bush with 277 votes and Zivkovich with 272 votes. Synuria placed fourth with 239 votes and will not appear on the November ballot.
Synuria had said he was seeking a seat on council in order to bring the art of compromise to the office. Synuria said the council members need to start working together for the future of the town.
