Study results will be shown Tuesday at Cultural Trust office
CONNELLSVILLE – The results of a planning study to tie the Great Allegheny Passage at Yough Park with the downtown business district will be displayed Tuesday at the Connellsville Cultural Trust office for the public to review. The study was completed by Pashek Associates of Pittsburgh and funded in part by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnership Program and the Keystone Recreation, Park, and Conservation Fund through the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
The gateway-to-gateway plan outlines recommendations for trail improvements and economic development opportunities to enhance the trail along with providing ideas to aid the local economy.
“Towns along the trail are seeing economic opportunities,” said Jim Pashek.
The plan focuses on the areas of Crawford Avenue, from Route 119 to Pittsburgh Street, along with Third Street.
Connellsville is classified as a trail town due to its proximity to the Great Allegheny Passage.
The 150-mile biking and hiking path connects Pittsburgh to Cumberland, Md., and then connects to the C&O Canal Towpath to Washington, D.C.
Pashek will make presentations at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.
The Connellsville Cultural Trust office is located at 502 S. Pittsburgh St.
