Wreath auction begins this month

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

CALIFORNIA – The first-ever “wreath auction” sponsored by the California Area Historical Society and the California Area School District Foundation begins this month. Bids are being accepted for the handcrafted wreaths, which, in addition to seasonal and thematic decorations, are loaded with gift certificates, free meals and tickets for admission to various events.

Some examples of the adornments featured on the wreaths include certificates for pet care, beverage distributors, musical events and area restaurants.

Final bidding on the wreaths takes place at an open house at the Gallagher House, 429 Wood St., California, from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, when appetizers and refreshments will be served.

Tickets to the open house are $8 prepaid, or $10 admission at the door.

For additional information, call the historical society at 724-938-3250.
