Ribbon-cutting ceremony set for Thursday

By Herald Standard Staff 2 min read

Fayette County Community Action Agency, in conjunction with PIRHL Developers (PIRHL), will host a public ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday for its most recent development, Uniontown Family Homes. The ceremony will celebrate the completion of 30 new single-family houses in Uniontown. The ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the subdivision clubhouse at 8 Diamond St. Rear (off Bailey Avenue and East Coffey Street). On-street parking for the ceremony will be along the newly created Diamond and Pearl streets within the new subdivision.

Uniontown Family Homes is a collaborative effort by Community Action, led by executive director Jim Stark, and PIRHL – a Cleveland-based owner, developer and general contractor of affordable single family and multi-family housing. The Uniontown development was made possible with funding from the following sources: the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), PNC Multi-family Capital, the state Department of Housing and Community Development; Federal Homes Loan Bank of Pittsburgh and sponsor First National Bank of Pennsylvania; Fayette County Act 137 funds; Local Initiative Support Corp. and Rural LISC; Pennsylvania Home Energy and the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund; and Home Depot Housing Assistance.

The development is a combination subdivision and scattered site, rental housing development, on 11 different streets in previously established neighborhoods in the city. All 30 houses are located within a half-mile radius in the East End and Lafayette neighborhoods. Seventeen of the new houses and a clubhouse are located on a new subdivision on Bailey Avenue; the remaining 13 houses are located on nearby parcels.

The three- and four-bedroom, stick-built, single-family homes range from about 1,200 to 1,550 square feet. The Energy Star-rated houses feature central air conditioning, rear patios, full basements and attached garages. The units are also digitally accessible. Four units are fully accessible to those with physical disabilities. Finally, all homes are certified to meet PHFA’s criteria for energy efficiency and conservation, operational savings and sustainable building practices.

NDC Real Estate Management will manage the sites.
