Area man charged after attack on girlfriend
Uniontown police have filed multiple charges against a Homestead man accused of assaulting his girlfriend Wednesday. Patrolman Tom Kolencik said Amir Purifoy, 29, was charged with two counts of simple assault and harassment after he struck and choked Nichole Craggette. Kolencik said the incident occurred sometime Wednesday morning at Craggette’s home on East Kerr Street.
Kolencik said that during an altercation, Purifoy punched Craggette in the face, causing her to lose consciousness.
Craggette told police that when she awoke, she found herself face-down on the floor of her home and said that Purifoy was on top of her and choking her, Kolencik said.
He said that Craggette was able to break free from Purifoy and run to her parent’s home nearby and was subsequently taken to the Uniontown Hospital.
Kolencik said Cragette was treated for a contusion to her right eye.
