Local man waives child sexual assault charges to court

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

A Masontown man accused of inappropriately touching a 7-year-old girl in September has waived all charges against him to court. Masontown police Chief Joseph C. Ryan said David Scott McKeon, 28, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Randy S. Abraham with indecent assault and corruption of minors.

During a recent preliminary hearing before Abraham, McKeon waived all charged against him to Fayette County Court.

According to Ryan, Fayette County Children and Youth Services approached the police department in early October regarding the alleged incident.

Ryan said that when he responded to McKeon’s residence to talk to him about the allegations, he admitted that he inappropriately touched the girl Sept. 7.

Ryan said that McKeon also admitted to officers that he knew the child was only 7 years old and told police, “I did it before I thought about the consequences.”

Ryan said that McKeon told investigators that he knew it was wrong, but did it anyway. Ryan said that during an interview with the girl, she corroborated McKeon’s statements to police about the alleged incident.

The Herald-Standard does not identify the victims of alleged sexual assault.

McKeon remains in the Fayette County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bond.

Fayette County Court records indicate this is McKeon’s only arrest.
