California officials announce date for yard waste, leaf pickup

CALIFORNIA – Fall yard waste and leaf material collection will occur on Saturday in the borough. Residential yard waste and leaf waste includes leaves, garden residues, shrubbery, tree trimmings and similar material, but does not include grass clippings. Material must be placed in biodegradable paper bags only and placed on the curbside in front of residences.

Limbs and branches are to be bundled and are not to exceed 2 inches in diameter and 36 inches long. Residents must contact County Hauling Corp. at 724-929-7694 extension 19, or by e-mail at bperego@wwllcgroup.com by noon the day before collection if they will be placing leaf and yard waste for collection at their respective address.

A leaf drop-off site will also be available on Saturday at Westmoreland Waste’s Sanitary Landfill located at 111 Conner Lane, Belle Vernon.
