Lions Club kicks off ‘nutty’ fundraiser
Waynesburg Lions Club recently kicked off its 18th annual holiday Koeze nut and candy sales, one of the club’s many fundraisers. Dr. Jerome Bartley, superintendent of Central Greene School District, purchased the first canister of nuts from Lions Club president Eleanor Chapman and nut sale chairman John Humble.
The club has always had a close relationship with the district through its sponsorship of the Boy and Girl of the Month program and its $1,000 scholarship to the Boy and Girl of the Year.
Lions Club has also contributed to Raider Field and other school projects.
The nut sale is one of five fundraising events the club holds. It also holds the annual Christmas tree sale, golf tournament, broom and trash bag sale, July 4 celebration booths and classic car show.
The nuts will be available from any Waynesburg Lions Club member or at the following locations: Airport Restaurant, Community Bank on Greene Street, Miller Lane and in Carmichaels, Humble Carpet, McCrackens Pharmacy, Wades Body Shop, First National Bank, Sluggers Carpet and the Greene County commissioners’ and treasurer’s offices.
The Lions Club is also holding a drawing for a Christmas gift basket that is now on display in the lobby of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Greene County in Waynesburg.
The drawing will be held on Dec. 18.
Tickets can be purchased at First Federal or from any Lions Club member.
